Pastor Ryan
My name is Ryan Schreckenghaust and I’m the Lead Pastor at The Summit Church. Lee’s Summit is my hometown and I love connecting with people to tell them about who Jesus is.
I am a graduate of William Jewell College and, after changing my major countless times, felt God’s nudge to invest my life in the work of the local church. I graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Psychology. I then attended Rockbridge Seminary where I earned the Master of Ministry Leadership and the Master of Divinity degrees. I was licensed to the Gospel Ministry in 2003 and ordained as a Pastor/Elder in 2013.
I have worked at several churches over the last 20 years where I served in roles such as Student Ministry Pastor, Creative Arts Pastor, and Executive Pastor. I’ve also worked professionally as a social media strategist in the marketing department at a Fortune 500 company.
I’ve been married to my wife Rebekah for more than 20 years. Rebekah is a school counselor at a local middle school. Together we have two boys, Jackson and Camden, and two Weimaraners named Poppy and Roxy. I love time with my family, reading and watching my favorite sports teams!
Pastor Jesse
My name is Jesse Land, and I am the Worship Pastor. I joined our staff at The Summit Church in 2015. I love being a part of this church community and working alongside our amazing group of volunteers on our Worship & Production team. There’s nothing like seeing people connect with their Creator and Father in meaningful ways!
I’ve been married to my wife Angie since 2005, and we have 3 awesome kids Weston, Jerrett, and Phoebe. I enjoy playing golf, and everything Royals, Chiefs, and KU Jayhawks!
Pastor Cigi
My name is Cigi Embry and I grew up in Southwest Missouri, near the Branson area (yes, people live in Branson)! I attended college in Oklahoma, where I met my husband, Jake. We have been living in Lee’s Summit and married for over ten years.
I began following Jesus at the age of 16 after hearing the Gospel at a local church in Kimberling City, MO and began exploring a call to ministry while in college. I had an opportunity to intern in the Communications Department at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art where that calling to help people follow Jesus became even more clear.
I was licensed to serve as a local pastor at The Summit Church in the summer of 2022.
Jake and I have one son, Wyatt, who is three and we are also parents to Loki, corgi of mischief. I love to garden, watch St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball, hike and bake in my free time.
Pastor Dan
My name is Daniel Brown, and I serve as the Discipleship Pastor at the Summit Church. I was born and raised in West Virginia, where I came to know Jesus at a young age. When I was sixteen, during a summer camp, I clearly sensed God calling me into full-time ministry—a moment that has continued to guide my life ever since.
By God's grace, for more than twenty years, I’ve sought to live that calling out through pursuing a life of prayer, worship, and a deep love for God’s Word. I have a particular heart for intercession and for helping others grow in their relationship with Christ in meaningful and lasting ways.
Much of my ministry focus has been investing in youth and young adults, shaped by God’s commitment to me in my early, rocky years. I’ve also had the opportunity to serve in adult discipleship with a particular emphasis on helping others understand God’s redemptive plan in Scripture and His purpose to restore all things in Christ.
My wife, Beverly, and I have been married since 2008, and we are grateful for our two awesome kiddos, Samson and Sarah. As a family, we enjoy sports, games, time with friends, experiencing the beauty of God’s creation in sunsets, mountains, and beaches, lots of laughs, and plenty of coffee (well, my kids not so much the coffee part)!
Pastor Scott
My name is Scott Moots and I serve as Care Pastor at The Summit. I grew up in Lebanon, MO, a small town in the southwest part of the state. I sensed the call to ministry at age 15 and was soon given opportunities to serve in my home church.
My wife Laura and I have been married for over thirty years, and we have four boys, three daughters-in-law and five grandchildren. Although much of my 30 years of ministry experience has been in worship and music, I have always had a heart for expressing care to congregation members in every season of life.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing golf, cooking and cheering on the Chiefs, Royals, and Missouri Tigers.
